We hear it all the time: Exercise is good for your health. At every single doctor’s appointment, in magazines, on blogs.

I definitely have a say on this as fitness plays a major role in my life and is a part of my daily lifestyle. A regular fit lifestyle has many benefits and I learned that three years ago when I decided to change my lifestyle from a sedentary to a more fit and healthy one and I'm so thankful I did. I was not always skinny and I had no idea how I could transform myself but it's always better to start with something rather than nothing at all right?

Here are some few ways how fitness impacted my life:

It definitely helped me kick bad habits - Over the years, I changed many things from my daily lifestyle. For example, I would constantly binge over sweets but being in a fit and healthy lifestyle motivates me to consume the right food. I believe that each of our body is a temple but to eat intelligently is an art. I started making small changes in my lifestyle and yes, it definitely did make a change. The key is to start small but to have a starting point.

My only competition is myself - We live in a society where we constantly compare ourselves to others. What I love about fitness is that your competition is yourself. You always want to do better than you did the last time. And the feeling you get when you defeat your past self? It’s pretty great. Sure, there will be times when I look at another person’s body or performance and want what they have. But the key thing to keep in mind is they are at an entirely different level of fitness than I am. The only way to get to that point is to keep pushing myself and be the best version of myself. You should always have a goal in mind according to your body and capacity and aim to be better than yourself.

My workout makes me feel good - Somehow my best ideas either for my blog or for styling are definitely a result of a good workout. I start loving myself even more and there's something about my workout that gives me more ideas rather than feeling tired.

I crave healthier foods - Surprisingly yes! Before I would crave the most high calories foods and somehow whatever I hated previously has become diet staples for me. Anytime I would crave a chocolate I would opt for a protein or yoga bar. I started realizing the food/body relationship and the importance fruits and vegetables are to fuel me. I saw a difference when I ate these foods too. I felt less sluggish and now I would definitely prefer a well rounded meal to a junk meal. A well rounded meal makes me feel fuller and keeps me satisfied in comparison to a junk meal. Also junk meals always call for more. Once you eat one junk meal you will definitely crave for more because your body isn't satisfied and full due to empty calories.

I’m more motivated -There’s something about reaching small goals that motivates you in other areas in your life as well. The more goals I make through fitness, the more goals I want to make in other areas of my life. Fitness helps improve my career, my relationships and my overall outlook on life.

I have more confidence - The confidence I get from exercise is not just vanity. Sure, I like how I look and enjoy making progress, but my the confidence I get runs deeper than that. The better I get at running, the heavier weights I can lift and the further I can push my body reminds me of how to better tackle other challenges outside of my workouts. Knowing I can reach my fitness goals gives me an I-can-do-anything attitude that is much needed when I feel down. I feel capable to achieve other goals apart from maintaining a fit lifestyle.

I look good - That's the main point and that matters the most. Once you think you've reached this stage , nothing at all can demotivate you and you will start aiming for higher.
